Do not be fooled by Dip Powder!
Dip Powder is what everyone is raving about. The thing is... Its basically ACRYLIC! The powders have acrylic as an ingredient. The consistency of this "new" product is similar to acrylic, the process of putting it on is slightly different (and not hygienic by the way!) but the removal process is detrimental to your nail beds! The trend isn't exactly new. It's actually been around for years, but social media (and maybe your nail technician) is popularizing the process and helping it stage a comeback. Its advertised as NOT acrylic or gel and that its non damaging etc. But bottom line is, that its pretty much super
glue brushed on and then dipped into acrylic powder! The removal process is harsh on our nails because to make the process faster, the nail tech uses the drill bit. If the nail tech decides not to use a drill bit, they have to buff so much of the top layer off to make the removal process faster. Then, when it doesn't remove fast enough, you still have to let it soak under the acetone even longer and buff even more!!! ( more damage to your nail beds by the way!) The main ‘glue’ ingredient, Ethyl 2-cyanoacrylate (85-100%) is also the main ingredient of Super glue (>98%). The powder used is essentially Acrylic powder (polymer). Just read up on the ingredients yourself!
